QWRK Illustrations
I’ve had the opportunity to do illustration commissions for QWRK Collective Environments (QWRK), a local design studio in Baltimore. After drawing animals for a previous smaller project, they asked if I could work with them on a client project for a new apartment complex in the Hill East neighborhood of D.C. The clients asked for a series of West African animal illustrations to be hung as wall art in the hallways of the living complex. The final digital illustrations were screen-printed by Baltimore Print Studios.
Earlier Commissions
In early 2020, QWRK commissioned me to create wall illustrations for a client’s office. The client was looking for wall art of a blue fin tuna and I took the opportunity to experiment with texture by using decorative papers and fabrics to make the scales. Another commission came for a cardinal, and I played with the same effect, cutting decorative papers in the shape of feathers and layering digitally to create a rich effect.

Animal Series -
Hill East D.C. Apartments
Working on this series truly stretched my drawing skills. Going in a simpler direction than the drawings previously submitted, I stuck to about 3-4 colors per image. With the provided animals, I approached this work through a series of traces and sketches, playing with a variety of inking styles. The final inked sketches were then brought into Illustrator to be digitized and colored.
